This is one of about a dozen or so "human" sets produced in the 1930's. This style of sets was common during this decade and fortunately leads to easy identification of the year each was produced. These sets are different than the similar "human" ones produced in the mid 1950's in the fact that the faces of the rikishi are drawn in these instead of a photo superimposed over the body. This set is very similar to the 1935 Rikishi 5 - Series 2 and 1936 Rikishi 5 set, but this set has has thinner fighting numbers as well as printed in a darker ink. The 1935 Series 2 set is very similar to this set and is presumably made by the same company. The 1935 Rikishi 5 -Series 2 set has Fighting Numbers that end with 3 zeros while this set has Fighting Numbers that can end in any number. That is the only difference.
