Description: A nice early 1950's menko set with menko printed on thick paper stock. This set is unique in the fact that it depicts the rikishi with caricature or cartoonish drawings. Many of the famous rikishi of the time are featured in this set. It has one of the last known Yokozuna Azumafuji menko as well as Yokozuna Yoshibayama's first ever menko! This set also has the only know menko of Maegashira Yoshidagawa...a low ranking rikishi who spent a few years in the low Maegashira ranks.

Front Design: Rikishi are drawn in caricature. Each menko shows a close-up portrait of the rikishi or in various stages of a particular kimarite. Rikishi's shikona appears on front.
Back Design: The back of the menko is divided into three columns. Rikishi's shikona appears in the middle with height and place of birth on the right side. Weight information is on the left side. There is no Gu-Choki-Pa mark on these menko, but a 7 digit fighting number appears on the bottom and the rikishi's rank appears along the top. Menko backs are printed in a brown or aqua blue ink.
