1956 Maruta Trump 8-9 Set

Description: This is a slightly difficult set to find from the mid 1950's. Menko are on thick paper stock with a glossy finish on the front. All menko feature two different rikishi; one is standing in the background in their kesho-mawashi and one is in the foreground with a portrait pose. Colors are vivid and most of the popular rikishi of the era are included in this set. Menko came in sheets and kids had to cut apart the menko themselves resulting in many uneven edges.

Front Design: Two rikishi are featured on each menko. One is standing in the background in their kesho-mawashi and one is in the foreground with a portrait pose. Nice bold colors with each character of the shikona written in a different color.

Back Design: A different war image is featured along the top of the menko with the corresponding kanji. In the middle of the menko is a 8 or 9 digit fighting number. On the bottom left side of the menko is a Gu-Choki-Pa mark along with the Maruta mark. On the bottom, right part of the menko is a playing card. Menko backs are printed in brown ink.
