1956 Sanenchuu Block 9 Set

Description:  Not much is known about this set, but is probably is a typical set of this era.  The printers must have had some printing trouble, as all the Yoshibayama menko I've seen from this set have the same printing defect at the top of his menko.  One uncorrected error is the back of Maegashira Wakasegawa menko have the shikona for Maegashira Hirosegawa.  This is the first menko I've run across that has this error.  Menko are on nice thick paper stock.

Front Design:  Rikishi are shown in their kesho-mawashi.  There must have been a printing error on Yoshibyama as I've seen 5 menko of his from this set and they all have stripes of missing ink along the top both front and back.

Back Design:  The Rikishi's shikona appears vertically under a Gu-Choki-Pa which is at the top of the middle column.  The Rikishi's rank appears at the top and the age and height/weight info are in both columns next to the shikona.  Menko backs were printed in either green or purple.
