1957 Yamakatsu Gyoji 5 Set

    Description:  This is one of the most common sets from the 1950s.  Menko are easy to find and are on the market frequently.  The quality of this set isn't very well as pictures aren't sharp and in some shots you can't even see the faces of the main Rikishi.  Not a very desirable set, but a nice starter set for those just getting into collecting sumo menko.  This does have a nice menko of Yokozuna Tochinishiki and Ozeki Wakanohana on the same menko which is quite hard to find.

   Front Design:  Most of the menko show the Rikishi in their kesho-mawashi or an action shot against a solid color background.  Rikishi's shikona is vertical, but can be hard to see in some menko. 

   Back Design:  Statistics appear horizontally in the middle of the menko surrounded by what resembles some tawara.  A Gu-Cho-Pa is in the lower left corner and a drawing of a gyoji is in the lower right.  A 5 digit Fighting Number is along the bottom.  Menko backs are printed in either brown or green.  The green backed menko don't have the Yamakatsu mark on the back.
