1958 Heya 6 Set

    Description:  This is a typical set from late 1958.  Production quality is quite low on this set and a lot of the images are blurry and dark.  The shikona appears to be almost stamped on the front and it quite difficult to read on a lot of the menko.  This set has a key menko in it, Future Yokozuna Kashiwado as a Maegashira.  In fact, Kashiwado's shikona used to be Togashi for 3 makuuchi basho before he changed it to Kashiwado.  It is written as Togashi in this set and is extremely rare to find a menko of a Yokozuna at the Maegashira rank.  In fact it is the only the second such menko I have ever run across; the first being a 1938 menko of the 36th Yokozuna Haguroyama at the Maegashira rank.

   Front Design:  Rikishi are photographed in various poses.  The shikona is stamped on the front in black ink and is hard to read on almost all the menko. 

   Back Design:  The back is a simple design with the shikona at the top and heya information under that.  In the middle of the menko is the rikishi's height and weight in the old style and metric system.  This is very useful information when trying to identify production years for sets.  A 6 digit fighting number is along the bottom with a Gu-Choki-Pa mark to the left of that.
