BC596-1, Type 1: Red Ink on Back

BC596-2, Type 2: Green Ink on Back

Description:  These menko are fairly common on the market today as they were very popular in 1959.  Most of the cards seen have a fair amount of game use and it is very difficult to find these in excellent condition.  This set features the first cards of Maegashira Wakachichibu and Wakamitsugi.   Cards are printed on thin cardboard stock and this is a very colorful set.  Cards came in sheets and had to be hand cut by the children.  This set also features a fair amount of winner cards.  This set has the red back which is more common than the green back.  The fronts of both sets are identical.
