Asashio1960 Dou Busa 7 Set
Description: These menko are fairly hard to find on the market today, but most that do survive are in fairly good condition. This set is a great example in the fact that kids would buy the menko in Taba form and then could win 15, 10 or 5 sheet combinations from a prize sheet if they received a winner stamp on the back of the menko. This is one of the few sets that features Yokozuna Tochinishiki and Yokozuna Wakanohana on the same menko! These two were the prime reason sumo saw such a boom in the 1950s and into the early 1960s.

Winner Stamp Description: Red circle with winning kanji inside.
Front Design: Most of the menko show the Rikishi in various poses on solid color background. Shikona is vertical in block print.
Back Design: Rikishi's shikona appears horizontally in the middle of the menko. Underneat the shikona are the rikishi's height, weight, name and birthplace. Part of the shinto roof that covers the dohyo is depicted at the top of the menko and a 7 digit Fighting Number is along the bottom. A Gu-Choki-Pa is in the bottom left corner of all the menko.
