Gu-Choki-Pa (Rock-Scissors-Paper)
Almost all menko have a Gu-Choki-Pa (Rock-Scissors-Paper) drawing on the back. The children could use these to play alternate forms of menko instead of the standard flipping rules. This rule is explained in the Rules section. As you might expect, Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beats Paper and Paper beats Rock. Janken, the official name for Rock-Scissors-Paper in Japanese, is the most common game among children in Japan even today. It is used much more by Japanese children than even American kids. Below you will see different Gu-Choki-Pa styles on the backs of different menko.
